EXPECTED IMPACT OF RESULTS
Scientific and Technology Aspects.
Firstly,
the cooperative interactions between industries in the Ukraine and the
Russian Federation to achieve the following purposes:
- Develop
new products for the Ukrainian and Russian industies that will generate
cash flows within each country and with international companies, thus
developing the growth of the adsorbent/catalyst industries in the
Ukraine and Russia.
- Promote collaboration between scientific and private industries that will benefit both groups.
- Train students in the application of science to solve problems.
- Private industries scale-up process and "commercialize" the ideas.
Another
advantage of the project is the training of Ukrainian and of Russian
students in Italy, U.K. and USA. These students will remain at the
training sites for 3 month-periods. At these remote sites the students
will become familiar with the synthesis of precursor compounds and
adsorbents, synthesis of the superadsorbents and characterization of
the solids by NMR, FTIR/RAMAN, and XPS.
Ecological and Environment Aspects.
The project has also immediate benefit
to Ukraine, namely: to solve problems relevant to remediation of
process waters nuclear power plants in the Ukraine, that after
Chernobyl failure is a painful problem for Ukraine.
Thus, the given project is complex: 1)
on its purposes it is both industrial, and ecological project as it
seeks solutions to problems concerning both domains; 2) on the
composition of the work team it combines the scientists and workers
from industry and academia from several different countries; 3) from
the point of view of performance the project combines scientific
development of principles of synthesis of new sorbents, development of
new technology and commercial embodying of termination products.
